SUMMER Contact and General Information

As we come to a close in our school year at Huntington Beach Union High School District (HBUHSD) we would like to take a moment to remind you our school nurses are generally not on-site to assist you. We know that your school nurse is a resource for concerns about your child’s health, school health requirements (including immunizations), what to do about medication and procedures at school, or referrals to community health resources.

Health Offices will be staffed with clerical staff for Summer School and we ask that you let your health office know ASAP if there has been a change in your child’s health, which impacts their ability to participate in school in person or physical education. (This would include Summer School as well as the Traditional School Year)

State and District requirements for immunizations, medications at school, and school physical exams remain in place. The Orange County pediatrician offices are open and ready to help with any immunizations, medications at school, or physical exams you may need. Medication and physician's orders must be renewed each school year. Forms can be downloaded here or by contacting your health office. Please use Summer as an opportunity to get those orders and paperwork filled out and ready for returning to school in the Fall. Contact your pediatrician’s office to set up any necessary appointments.

Check with your school health office for specific student requirements to ensure your student is up-to-date and check the CDPH Shots for School website to get more information on required immunizations. If you update your child’s immunizations, please fax (714-378-0741) or email the documents to the health office clerk or school nurse to ensure requirements are met for the start of the school year.

Your school nurses may not be checking their email regularly throughout the months of June-August and any response is not guaranteed until after school starts in the Fall.
