SUMMER Contact and General Information

As we near the end of the school year at Huntington Beach Union High School District (HBUHSD), we want to remind you that our school nurses will generally not be on-site to assist you. We understand that your school nurse is a valuable resource for addressing concerns about your child’s health, school health requirements (including immunizations), managing medication and procedures at school, or obtaining referrals to community health resources.

During Summer School, the Health Offices will be staffed with clerical personnel. We kindly ask that you promptly inform your health office if there have been any changes in your child’s health that could affect their ability to participate in in-person school or physical education. This applies to both Summer School and the Traditional School Year.

State and District requirements for immunizations, medications at school, and school physical exams remain in effect. Pediatrician offices in Orange County are open and available to assist with any necessary immunizations, medications at school, or physical exams.

Medication and physician's orders must be renewed each school year. Forms can be downloaded here or by contacting your health office. Use the summer break as an opportunity to complete and submit these orders and paperwork in preparation for the return to school in the Fall. Contact your pediatrician’s office to schedule any required appointments.

Please check with your school health office for specific student requirements to ensure that your student is up-to-date, and visit the CDPH Shots for School website for more information on required immunizations. If you update your child’s immunizations, please fax (714-378-0741) or email the documents to [email protected] to ensure that requirements are met for the start of the school year.

Please note that school nurses may not be checking their email regularly during the months of June to August, and any response is not guaranteed until after the start of the school year in the Fall.
