The PSAT/NMSQT will take place on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Fountain Valley High School. FVHS will only administer the PSAT to 10th and 11th graders. The PSAT is a college admission practice examinations. It measures readiness for college, offers access to scholarships, and provides practice for the SAT.
All 10th graders will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT exam on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. With the one time funding, Huntington Beach Union High School District will be covering the costs to the PSAT/NMSQT for all families of 10th graders. Parents/students do not need to pre-register for this exam.
The PSAT/NMSQT is optional, but highly recommended, for the 11th graders who are planning to apply to a 4-year university. Any 11th grader planning to take the exam will need to sign up in advance and submit a $25 fee for the cost of the PSAT. Sign ups for the PSAT will begin on September 12th thru September 28th. To sign up, parents/students will go to the online Student Store at FVHS.com to sign up and make a payment.
The National Merit Scholarship Program (NMSQT) is a academic competition for recognition and scholarships. When 11th grade students take the PSAT/NMSQT and meet other entry requirements, they enter the NMSQT to compete for prestigious recognition and over 8,000 college scholarships to be offered in 2020.
More information on testing times will be disseminated prior to the examinations.
