"Each is given a list of rules;
a shapeless mass; a bag of tools.
And each must fashion, ere life is flown,
A stumbling block, or a Stepping-Stone."
-R. L. Sharpe
"The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool."
-William Shakespeare (As You Like It)
Degrees:
CSULB: BA in English Literature (2008)
CSULB: Teaching Credential in English (2012)
CSULB: MA in English (2012)
Interests:
Camping, snowboarding, surfing, swimming, biking, camping, running, golfing, trying new foods, traveling to new places, watching new movies or shows, playing new sports, and so much more! My husband and I try to celebrate LIFE as often as possible, which means constantly pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones to gain new insights into the world, and turning everything into a celebration.
Family:
My husband and I are blessed to have two beautiful boys who keep us laughing all day long. We also have a silly clown of a Corgi who greets us at the door when we get home with a seriously enthusiastic bummy wag. As always, ALL opinions are welcome and encouraged in my classroom; however, Corgis ARE the best dogs. ;)
Reason for Teaching:
Elenor Roosevelt said to "Do one thing every day that scares you," so . . . I thought teaching high school would easily accomplish that goal. ;)
In all seriousness, I have the most rewarding job on the planet. I am surprised on a daily basis by the intellect, generosity, and kindness of our students. I often feel like I learn more from my students than they learn from me. Learning about their different perspectives on everything and anything truly enriches my life; teaching them to love literature as much as I do is a bonus.
