Summer School Information

Summer School Options for 2018


Option 1: Huntington Beach Union High School District offers its summer school program at Huntington Beach Adult School for current students who earned a D or F grade in a course. Students may make up 10 credits during the summer. Huntington Beach Adult School is in session from Monday, June 18, 2018 to Wednesday, July 25, 2018. Classes will be held Monday through Thursday, with the exception of Health classes which are held either Monday/Wednesday OR Tuesday/Thursday. Students may enroll in either Period 1 (8:30am – 11:00am) OR Period 2 (11:30 am – 2:00 pm). There will be no classes on July 4th and 5th in honor of the Independence Day holiday.


Classes are held at various high school campuses within HBUHSD. Please see your Guidance Specialist or School Counselor to enroll.


Option 2: Courses taken outside the Huntington Beach Union High School District MUST HAVE PRIOR APPROVAL by School Administration (BP6178.2) before registering for classes. No Honors credit is given in the summer. Parents must complete the Request for External Course Credit form and submit it to the Guidance Office for approval. These forms are available in the Guidance Office.


The out of district schools that are approved by HBUHSD are listed below. Current students who earned a D or F grade in a course may enroll. Students may not enroll in multiple schools. Students may make up 10 credits during the summer. Students/Parents must contact the school of choice for course offering, summer school dates, class time, enrollment process, and fee schedule (if any).


Students who need to take Health outside of HBUHSD must take it at one of the eligible schools: Pacific Coast High School, Pacific View Charter School, or Brigham Young University
