Feeling harassed or bullied?

Threats and bullying can be physical (shoving, hitting, tripping, etc.) and/or emotional (name calling, intimidation, emails, Instant messages and threats etc.). Any of the above behaviors are unacceptable. Following is a list of ideas to help:

  • Tell a friend, teacher, parent, nurse, supervision or the school psychologist
  • Write a note to one of the above if you don't want to be overheard
  • Don't retaliate. You will probably get caught and will have to face the consequences
  • Stay in control, if you yell, hit or act out, the harasser will know he/she is in control. Ignore what you can. Bullies move on to targets they know they can really affect
  • Stay in well populated places on campus and in class
  • Make a report (anonymous if you desire) with supervision. You can call it in from home or drop them a note
  • If someone is bothering you in class, stay after, leave with a friend or wait as if you plan to ask someone about the assignment or notes
  • As indicated in the above section on “Stress, Behave confidently” Harassers don't bother with people who appear confident and in control

Peer Conflict

Are you experiencing trouble with rumors, disagreements, or he said she said arguments getting you down?

•  Don't be a part of the rumor game, excuse yourself from the conversation (or emails) when topics turn to the rumor drama

•  See or drop a note to one of your school psychologists

•  Ask a teacher or mutual friend to mediate and help resolve the conflict

•  Sign a “Mediation Request Form” in the supervision office or go to this link (courtesy of Mrs. Marquez)
