Konvicted Goodness

Akon's follow-up to his hugely successful debut, Trouble, will have you dancing for more.

From the beginning of Konvicted, Akon upholds his reputation of great beats. The opening has a head-bobbing feel, which is great in the car or at home with your new i-Home accessories. Jumping straight into his rapping talents, Akon shines in mixing his beats with his thoughts.

“Shake Down,” the first song on the album, is an attention grabber from the start. The impressive tunes and lyrics make it enjoyable to sing along and really set the mood for the rest of the CD.

The second song, “Blown Away,” acts as a contrast to the first song. The whole song shines for its flow, the nonstop rolling and jamming from beginning to end. You are sure to get blown away on this song.

The next tracks are the hit songs that have everyone talking. Konvicted is the home for “Smack that” and “I Wanna Love You.” These are the songs that can be blasted in your stereo all day long and its upbeat tunes never get tiring. KIIS FM will have no trouble overplaying these songs because they are so catchy. Look forward to hearing these on the dance floor.

But the album isn't without its faults. Konvicted begins to sag in the middle, as the seven songs between the two hits and the last one feel like merely filler material. Despite their insightful lyrics, it's a struggle to get through the mellow, doze-worthy songs.

Akon picks up the pace again with last song, “Don't Matter.” With its nice rhythm and flow, this song will become a real hit.

Unlike other mainstream rap albums, Konvicted has little profanity or foul language. Give it a try and take it for a spin.
