Are you on the list?

Steven Le, Tuan Mai, and Vivian Truong are just a few of the victims on the list of Heroes fans who anticipated its return on January 22nd. Monday nights on NBC are even better as 14.95 million viewers are glued to their television screens and hung in absolute suspense. In the fall finale of Heroes, fans were left with a series of cliffhangers and unsolved mysteries to get them fired up for a new year of Heroes.
For those of you who are not familiar with this new, television phenomena, Heroes follows the stories of “ordinary people with extraordinary powers.” Normal human beings such as Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) and Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) suddenly realize they have superhuman abilities that allow them to dream the future and bend space and time. Earlier in the Heroes saga, some of these heroes discover that New York City will be obliterated in a nuclear explosion. Then came the notorious catch phrase from the 2006 hit:
“Save the cheerleader, save the world.”
Claire Bennett (Hayden Panettiere) is a cheerleader who possesses the ability to corporally regenerate. Viewers are still stumped by the meaning of this ridiculous phrase and its pertinence to her. Because of the many heroes and entangling subplots, it is nearly impossible to predict the twists and turns, which is why many people consider the series a must-see.
The Wired Baron took the time to interview some students about their feelings about the show.
Q: What do you enjoy about the show? What powers would you possess if you were a hero destined to change the world?
Josh Huang (Junior, ’08): “I think Heroes is a great TV show because the storyline is so intriguing! I can't wait to see how Niki's story intersects with the main plot. If I were a hero, I think I'd want telekinesis because you could do basically anything!”
Tuan Mai (Junior, ’08): “I think Heroes is good because ever since we were little, we loved to imagine real superheroes and hope that we had superpowers ourselves. The show also depicts what it'd be like if we teenagers really did have superpowers. If I could have any power it would probably be the ability to shape shift into any animal/entity like a lion. I heard they don't have to take finals.”
Andy Tran (Junior, ’08): “Heroes is good because adults can watch it without seeming lame since it’s not cartoony. I would want to teleport because I am lazy and it’s a quick form of transportation.”
