Does this top look familiar? (Photo Credit: UrbanOutfitters.com)

There are posters announcing the Aloha Dance, but I must have missed the ones proclaiming it was Twin Day. That appears to be the only explanation as to why everyone is wearing the same thing all of a sudden.

Since school has started, I have lost count of the number of students wearing the same v-neck shirts. During passing period, all I see is v-neck shirts and jeans, with the addition of flats or sandals and maybe a cardigan sweater. The style is so prominent that a group of friends could be wearing the exact same outfit, but in different colors. It appears that they purposely coordinated their outfits each school day.

For those who think the Urban Outfitters shirt is new and cutting edge, sadly it's not.   Kirsten Dunst was actually the first to start this trend a few months ago wearing, who would have guessed, a white v-neck shirt, cut-off shorts, and gladiator sandals. Sounds awfully familiar? Stores followed suit and the sea of look-alikes were born.

I know v-necks and jeans are comfortable, but if students are going to wear trendy fashion, they need to consider that other people may be thinking the same thing. Tips to avoid blending in with the scenery are to add interesting pieces of jewelry, try on a different patterned undershirt, or generally, be original. Be new wave, not old hat.
