This weekend I watched Across the Universe , a tribute to the golden years of The Beatles. If you are a fan of the Beatles music or love the stories that their songs tell then this movie is for you. This 131 minutes long movie/musical is so entertaining that I have seen it twice.

The movie is about a young Englishman named Jude who has come to the U.S.A from Liverpool in search of his father. After going to Princeton where his father works, he meets a man named Max. After befriending Max, he soon meets Max's little sister, Lucy. The rest of the film focuses on the ups and downs of the young romance that gets tested by the 1960's counter culture movement. The adventure continues as Max drops out of Princeton and takes Jude along to meet the face of New York. Followed by Lucy, the group moves into a small hotel where they meet Sadie and Jo-Jo. When Max gets drafted to the war it causes Lucy to resent the war and she begins to protest in some anti-war demonstrations that get her arrested and Jude sent back to Liverpool. In the morning paper, he discovers Lucy's picture in the paper which begins the search for his love.

This movie is one of the better musicals I have seen and I suggest it to any one with musical taste. Some might not like the movie because of the different colors and 60's based themes, but I highly recommend that you see this movie.

Score: 9/10
Rated PG-13 for some drug content, nudity, sexuality, violence and language
